Detective Constable Murray is the newest recruit at Scotland Yard and is keen to prove himself to his Chief Inspector and fast-track his promotion. When Murray is handed the peculiar case of an elderly recluse living deep in England’s countryside, protected by armed agents, he jumps at the chance to unravel the mystery, concluding there might be a link to London’s latest terrorist threats. Murray meets the recluse and is thrown off balance when she claims to be the late Marilyn Monroe. After a lifetime of hiding away she seems intent on revealing the truth about her supposed dealings with the Kennedy family and the Mafia before she dies. Could it be that as a young woman, Marilyn knew upfront that she was in danger and genuinely did escape to England? The woman is clearly scared of being silenced whether she is Marilyn or not. What if there was someone else in Marilyn’s bungalow that fateful night in 1962? Someone who had an agenda of their own and would stop at nothing to get what they wanted - both then and now? Just when Murray is close to discovering the truth, he is found unconscious in the grounds of the mansion with a head injury and marks on his wrists suggesting he has been bound with rope.
Born in London, Sally has moved around the UK,
enjoying the hustle and bustle of London, a quintessential
English village in the Midlands, and the Hampshire seaside.
She currently lives where the work takes her.
She has fond childhood memories of heady summer
days in her parents' garden, seated at a table learning to draw
and paint. It was this period that moulded her career.
Sally's mother, an accomplished seamstress, taught Sally
to knit and sew, so that by the age of thirteen, she was able to
make her own clothes. This is where her interest in fashion and
costume began.
After leaving grammar school, Sally trained to be an
engineering tracer and detail draftsperson, and ran her own
company employing several tracers. She also designed record
sleeves, adverts and worked on Marvel comics illustrations
whilst raising three children. Subsequently, she was offered the
chance to design costumes for a well established ballet school.
Her father also encouraged her artistic skills: his
persuasion gave her the push to go back into full time
education. Studying Fashion and Textiles, she later attained a
BA and MA in Costume.
After the death of her mother, Sally's grief caused her to
struggle with her creativity. During a period of isolation, she
became inspired to write, and it was the intrigue of today's
pursuit of wealth and status by many, and the opposing
contrast of deprivation in WW2 that became the subject for
this novel.
Sally is still a Costume Designer, as well as a Production
Designer and Storyboard Artist. She is currently co-writing a
novel and screenplay and designing costume for two UK
feature films.
